Let me tell you about my Dad –
Billy was born in June 1935 and became the youngest son to William F and Helen Thompson, who already had 3 sons and two daughters. When his youngest sister was added to the family, the whole clan moved from Staten Island to a farm in Pittstown NJ.
Bill graduated from North Hunterdon Regional High School, where he played football, then attended Peddie School, Bucknell University and graduated from New York Institute of Finance. He began his stock broker career as a member of the New York Stock Exchange.
Through mutual friends he met Carmella Castrilli, known as Millie, who became his wife. They quickly started a family beginning with Sharon Helen, JR (William Jr), and Lisa Marie. After purchasing a home in Somerville NJ the family grew with 3 more sons Nicholas Patrick, Donal Robert and Christopher James.
Bill was a Republican Committeeman, Little League coach, and attended Immaculate Conception Church with his family. He continued to work as a broker, moving to a firm in New Jersey and served 12 years on the Somerville Borough Council. He became a Eucharist Minister at Immaculate Conception Church and Somerset Medical Center.
Bill will be remembered for his ready smile, strong political views and corny jokes. He was greatly loved for his ability to reach out a helping hand to anyone in need.
With many children came a horde of grandchildren Nikki, Kyle, Sami, Amanda, Jackie, Emilia, Cole, Ashley, Kurt, Charlotte, Gianni, Will, Ryan, Brandon, Collin, Reilly & Ava; then followed great grandchildren Bella, Elliott, Alanna, Skyler and Craig.
In celebration of Bills life the family will be accepting donation to give a gift in his name (In lieu of flowers).
