Always rooting for the underdog, Tom was a devoted Mets and Jets fan, sticking with them through thick and thin (mostly thin). While he wasn’t torturing himself watching sports, Tom spent time watching old movies, reading books about history, and cursing out the dog. More than anything, he loved being with his family and friends—traveling to new places, celebrating at family gatherings, or drinking beers and just hanging out.
While he wasn’t necessarily the life of the party, to those who knew him, he was definitely the heart of it. He is and will always be deeply missed.
Although his passing was far too soon, through organ and tissue donation, his family takes comfort in the fact that his death will help bring life to many others.
Visiting will be held in Tom’s honor from 4–7 pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Cusick Funeral Home in Somerville, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Committee to Protect Journalists at https://www.cpj.org/about/donate.php.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia, his three children, Olivia, Tommy, and Carolyn, and his brother, David.

Let’s do some living after we die.”
