Jon T. Langevin, 57, of Spotswood, NJ passed away at his home on August 30, 2017, after a long battle with complications stemming from a traumatic accident in 2009. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visitation beginning at 7pm and concluding with a Memorial Service at 8:30pm on Thursday, September 7, at the Cusick Funeral Home in Somerville, NJ
Jon was the son of the late Paul and Edna Langevin of Scotch Plains, NJ and grew up there. He was a 1978 graduate of Scotch Plains-Fanwood HS and joined the family business after graduation. When the family closed the business Jon sought a career in the automotive repair field and retired from the New Jersey Department of Transportation after his accident. Jon pursued cars and their restoration as a hobby and loved to work on and fix anything mechanical. He was also an avid fisherman and spent much of his spare time on the water in streams, lakes or on boats in the ocean. Some of his fondest memories were of catching the ones that didn’t get away and the trophies on the walls in his house attested to his expertise. As with many fishermen, Jon was a great spinner of stories which he frequently shared with his friends and family.
Above all Jon valued his friendships. Friends and neighbors were always stopping by to swap stories and to look in on him. He was always there to lend a hand and help anyone that needed it. His cheerful, outgoing personality was what will be remembered most by those who had the privilege of knowing him. Jon is survived by his son Michael, siblings Paul and wife Denise, Bruce and wife Mary Lou, Michelle, Denise (Toolan), Suzanne (Kadish) and husband Jonathan, many loving nieces and nephews and his best and closest friend, his yellow Labrador Retriever, Brooklyn.
