Mrs. Florence Stoveken passed away peacefully at Foot Hill Acres at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Rupert and Elsie Smith in Somerville on September 17, 1922 and lived there until her marriage to Irving Stoveken in September 1942. They then moved to Hillsborough, where they still reside. "Babe" as she was called by friends and family worked at Columbia Aircraft while her husband served in the Navy. She also worked for many years part-time for the Somerset County Election Board. For the last 42 yrs, she and her husband have enjoyed summers at their beach house at the Jersey Shore, enjoying all the many friends they had there as well as in Hillsborough. Babe was a long time member of the United Reformed Church in Somerville. She was predeceased by her brother John Smith of Somerville. Surviving are her loving husband of almost 70 yrs., Irving Stoveken, her daughter Susan Tozzi and husband
Frank of Hillsborough and her son Jerry Stoveken and wife Brenda of Hanover, VA. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Carlene Lau and husband Scott, Alicia D'Egidio and husband Michael, Kristin Smith and husband Jay, Kyle and Trevor Stoveken, Heather Sabilia and Scott Stoveken and 9 great grandchildren and her dear sister Beatrice Vaughn of Somerville. She was much loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Memorial donations may be made to the Tall Cedars or Hillsborough Rescue Squad. Visiting hours are from 5pm to 8pm on Wednesday, June 13, and on Thursday, June 14 beginning at 10am at the Cusick Funeral Home in Somerville. The Funeral Service will be 11am on Thursday, June 14, at the United Reformed Church, 100 W. Main St., Somerville followed by an interment at Neshanic Cemetery, Hillsborough.
