Alfred "Al" Sferra died December 28 at Hunterdon Medical Center. Mr. Sferra was born in Bound Brook and lived his adult life in Somerville and Raritan Township. He was a local businessman and real estate investor and a Life Member of the Somerville Rescue Squad and a Somerville High School graduate, Class of 1949. Al loved spending time with his grandchildren and out in the fields on his John Deere tractor. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who he greeted with a smile. His parents Joseph and Mary (Maiullo) Sferra, a brother Pat and sisters Gloria Barry, Marge Long and Marie Gessell predeceased him. Surviving are his beloved wife of 54 years, Terry (Liptak) Sferra, his son Kevin (Karen), his daughters Karen Liberato (Philip) and Robyn Hand (Kyle) and his 5 grandchildren Nathan, Philip Jr., Nicole, Sean and Stephanie and his sister Jeanne Baskin (Monty). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30am on Thursday, December 31, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Somerville. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bridgewater. Visiting hours from 3pm-6pm on Wednesday, December 30, at the Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Al's memory to Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington.
